So, in season four of The O.C., Taylor attended the Sorbonne in Paris.
However, after she was wooed into marrying a French guy, she returned home. Unable to face her mother, she hid out in numerous people`s homes. That`s when this song comes in...

Put Your Hands In The Air.... Please
"Polite Dance Song" by The Bird and The Bee.
This is the only song I have by this band, and oh my, is it ever hilarious. It compiles a bunch of generic dance song phrases into one song, but in a polite manner. BAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I Can't Believe I Actually Like This Song!
So, Björk is this hilariously awesome, crazy, eccentric Icelandic singer. I never thought I'd like any of her music.
Then, I heard "Earth Intruders."

Stalker Song
Okay, so I realize that, if you listen to the lyrics in "The Con" by Tegan and Sara, it sounds like a major stalker song. She writes him back before he even writes her; she listens in on.... whatever; she says that nobody likes her, but they might if she cries. But this song is so absolutely incredible.
"The Con" is the title track on Tegan and Sara's latest album, which is available on both CD and vinyl. One thing that I love about the song is that the twins' voices seem to blend into one, which doesn't happen super often with their songs.
Also, I realize I said "him" when talking about the other person; that is just instinct. Tegan Quin and Sara Quin are in fact, as you may well already know, lesbians. But honestly, does that really matter? Their music is so awesome!

Thursday, I Don't Care About You
Monday, you can fall apart!
Tuesday, Wednesday, break my heart.
Thursday doesn't even start
It's "Friday I'm in Love" by The Cure.
Did you see what I did there? Eh? Eh? I used the song's lyrics and moved right into the title and band name! Eh? Clever, eh? Eh?
Anyway, The Cure are an absolutely superfluously incredible band! They're so awesome! And they don't need to be that awesome, but they are! And this song.... This song is so great! Although I'm not entirely sure why he only loves her on Friday. Oh well, no matter.

I Guess That's How the Future's Done
So, "Mushaboom" by Feist is a really fun song. It's so great. It makes me really happy when I hear it, because it's just so upbeat. I love Feist. If I could marry any celebrity, it would undoubtedly be her. I hope that doesn't sound too creepy.

The Reaper, He Reaches and Touches My Hand...
Last night, my sister and I went to see the new Harry Potter film, The Half-Blood Prince. I was surprised at its quality; then again, I haven't read the book in a while. There were three previews. The first was for Sherlock Holmes, with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. It actually looks really good, and kind of funny. I wonder if they worked Holmes's heroin addiction into the plot... Anyway, the second was some weird kids' film. But the third! Remember that book you had when you were a kid, "Where the Wild Things Are?" Well I do. It was great, and they're making it into a film. I was excited to begin with, but now that I've seen the preview, I'm even more excited. Well, it's more because I heard it... The song they used... I was shocked. I was surprised. I was ecstatic. I sang along for the whole trailer. They played "Wake Up" by The Arcade Fire. SUCH A GOOD SONG!!! I don't know how to properly express my feeling towards this song, and this band! They're just so amazing!!!

Music is my Constant Companion!
For the longest time, "Amber" was the only song I knew by 311. I sometimes sing it to my friend Amber. Well, I sing it at her, is more like. Anyway, they recently released a new single, called "Hey You." It's freakin' awesome and I love it. You should listen to it. Even you, Megan; you might actually like it (yeah, Thomas told me about how he told you about this blog).

Lost in the Music
"Lost in the Plot" by The Dears is the only song by the Montreal-based Indie band that I actually know. But it's so good!!!
I live near Ottawa, and listen to Live 88.5, a great Ottawa radio station. They have what they call the Live Lounge (not to be confused with the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge; more about that in August!).
Whenever a band comes to the Live Lounge, they get excited, so they advertise a lot. When The Dears were coming, the commercial had three different songs by The Dears during the talking. I managed to figure out what one of them was called. I listened to it on YouTube to make sure that was the right one, and I discovered that those three songs are actually three different parts of the same song! They're just so orchestral and diverse and original; it's awesome!

What I Was Talking About Before
Remember when I was talking about the other Dandy Warhols song? The one that was on The O.C.? Well, this is it:
"We Used to be Friends" by The Dandy Warhols. There you go. Now you know it.

Is it a dream, or is it a lie?
Today, I'm sharing with you, dear readers, "Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)" by The Arcade Fire.
Now, I didn't choose this song (by my favourite band) because it's my favourite, although it's definitely up there. The reason I chose it is because it is the first Arcade Fire song I ever heard, so it really does mean a lot to me, you know? It's such a great song, and the music video... Well, it's... interesting.

I'm a Romantic... But Never Pearly White.
"In a Cave" by Tokyo Police Club is the song that features the name of the album it's on: Elephant Shell. It's their first full-length album, released after two EPs. I recently heard on the radio that this Newmarket, Ontario band is back in the studion working on a second LP. I'm really excited about that.
I think the reason I love this song is just that it's so upbeat and... fun. It makes me happy every time I listen to it.

I'll be gone, too
"Gone for a Long Time" by The Johnstones.
This is a good song. I'm using it because I'll be gone for the next week, so you won't hear from me on either of my blogs. Now, I've gotta go! Bye!

When There's Nothing Left to Burn, You Have to Set Yourself on Fire
This is the opening line to the song "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead" by Stars. Such a sad song.... It is the incredible first track on Stars' amazing album, "Set Yourself on Fire." The above words are spoken by the father of the lead singer (Torquil Campbell), who is a famous Shakespearean actor. On Stars' following album, "In Our Bedroom After the War," Campbell's mother, also a Shakespearean actress, speaks the album's opening lines.
"Your Ex-Lover Is Dead" is an absolutely beautiful song. It has male and female vocals, cello, and a variety of brass and wind instruments. When I first heard this song, I almost died, it was so great. I even eventually wrote a short story based on my interpretation of the lyrics, but I don't expect that will be shared here.

Break the Scenes of Sociality
In my grade 12 Writer's Craft course, one activity was to create a character using a bunch of specific criteria. It was frustrating, but I think I did a pretty good job. One criterion was the character's favourite song. After much thought and deliberation, I finally decided that Frederick Scott's favourite song was to be "7/4 (Shoreline)" by Broken Social Scene. This is an incredible song by an amazing band whose members include members from Stars, Treble Charger, and Metric. Also, Feist is a founding member, and we all know how awesome she is!

Just a Casual, Casual, Easy Thing
Have any of you ever seen the film "Moulin Rouge!"? It's good. It takes place during the Bohemian Revolution. It makes me think, "Man, I want to be Bohemian." That, in turn, reminds me of today's song, "Bohemian Like You" by The Dandy Warhols. It's oldish ('90s) but it's really good.
Another one of their songs was featured on an episode of "The O.C." when Summer and Ana were friends and ignoring Seth. What a great show!
When in Paris, I saw the Moulin Rouge itself.
We didn't go in, but we saw it. We also saw a museum with an Andy Warhol exhibit going on. Alas, the museum was not on the tour, so we could not attend. Poo.

Yes, We Still Have Rights
"My Rights Versus Yours" by The New Pornographers.
Don't let their name turn you off. Or on. These guys are a great band from out west -- somewhere in B.C. Vancouver, I think. This is an incredible song. It's soft, but it's so good! If you like it, and you want more of that style, try AC Newman. He's the male lead singer of the NP, and has a solo career of his own. Look into him. Do it. Seriously.
