Well, the Month of Live Lounge Covers is done. But I'm going to leave you with a cover anyway. Not a Live Lounge cover, but a cover nonetheless.

It is: "The End's Not Near (It's Here)" by The New Year,



as covered by Band of Horses. Personally, I prefer the cover.


I chose this song just to remind you that, even though the Month of Live Lounge Covers is over, the end's not near. Mirage of Loss is going to keep going for a long, long time.

Shouldn't They Say Boyfriend?

Oh, wait... they do. While The Pigeon Detectives do sing "I could be your girlfriend" whilst singing Avril Lavigne's classic "Girlfriend," later in the song they do sat boyfriend. They actually address Jo Whiley, the host of the Live Lounge, and tell her, "I want to be your boyfriend."

Sexual Arson?

"Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon was their first song I ever knew. At first, I acknowledged that it was a good song, but I didn't really specifically like it. With time, however, it grew on me.



At the Live Lounge, James Morrison did a real good cover of it. Sewiously guys. It's weally good.

I recently discovered, much to my shock and surprise (and a bit of disdain, but not a whole lot), that I don't have any U2 on my computer.



No worries, I do have this great Live Lounge cover by Keane. This cover, "With of Without You," is one of my slower Live Lounge covers. Maybe my only slow one, actually. I'm too lazy to check, though.

Paniceater

I think that Panic at the Disco might be the only band (as far as I know) who can take a song...

MGMKooks

"Kids" by MGMT is one of my favourite songs by... well, MGMT.



The Kooks do a lovely little cover of it. And I promise you, this is the last Live Lounge cover involving The Kooks. Honest.

I Never Ever EVER Thought I'd Like One of Her Songs

I am referring to, as I am sure you are wondering, JoJo.



However, her Live Lounge cover of "Times Like These" is actually pretty good. I mean, it helps that The Foo Fighters are already a good band, but still.

Nobody Told You? That's Too Bad.

I love The Killers.


I still remember the first time I heard them. I was in the barn, feeding hay to the cows, and "Somebody Told Me" came on.
I am going to be honest with you, though. As good as it is, I don't recall the first time I heard the Daniel Bedingfield version.

They Really Don't Lie

When I first heard that Mika covers "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira, my sister told me that he sounded exactly like her. Now, I haven't heard the original, but I wouldn't be surprised.



However, my personal preference is the cover by The Fray.

Violet Kooks

I want to sleep, so here it is fast:
"Violet Hill" by Coldplay as covered by The Kooks.

Like I'm Being Pelted With Yeahs

So, as much as I love The Arcade Fire, I have to be perfectly honest with you:

Here goes...

It starts out a little weak.



They cover "Maps" by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It sounds a little weak at first, but it quickly grows stronger and becomes SO GOOD!

At Least I'm Not Losing

When What's-Her-Face the lead singer of Paramore (all apologies if What's-Her-Face is reading this; yours is one of the names I don't know) said "So now you know; no more surprises," at the beginning of her band's Live Lounge cover, I don't think she realized that The Kaiser Chiefs, especially one of their more obscure songs, such as "Love's Not a Competition (But I'm Winning)," ... Well, not quite as well known as she seems to think. Nevertheless, it's a great song, and a fantastic cover!

When I Was Young? No, Sorry, When You Were Young

Sally Can Wait

I absolutely love the song "Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis. I've never actually listened to the lyrics, but it sounds like a really sweet song.



Maroon 5 did a Live Lounge cover. Were it not for what's-his-face-the-lead-singer-of-Maroon-5's distinct voice, the versions would sound nearly identical. Nearly.

Looking Back...

"Smile Like You Mean It" by The Killers as covered by David Gray.



He does change some of the lyrics a bit, but whatever. It's really good; very different from the original.

Nite, Not Night

I hadn't actually heard of Adele before, but she's got a pretty good voice.



That came in handy when she covered "Last Nite" by The Strokes.



Granted, the instrumental part does sound a bit exactly the same, but it's still very good.

I'm Just Across Here, I'm Just a Shot Away From You

Okay, so I'm doing the same song two days in a row: "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand.



But this version is so good that I think it deserves its very own post.
It's done by The Scissor Sisters, and the first time I heard it, I was like, "Meh."



Then I listened to it again. And let me tell you! AAAAAAAAAA!!! IT'S SO GOOD!!!!

So If You're Lonely, You Know I'm Here, Waiting For You

The Magic Numbers. I know, I hadn't heard of them before either.



Franz Ferdinand. I know, I've heard of them too. They're awesome.



"Take Me Out" was their first song that I ever knew, and it's awesome. And don't worry when the introduction part of the song isn't there; it's at the end.

The Saga Continues...

Today, we're going to go with a little Kate Nash. But which one? She has two, and they're both so awesome. Hmmm....



Let's go with the first one I heard: "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes. Keeping in mind, of course, that the only instrument, in classic Kate Nash style, is the piano.



Maybe I'll do the other one tomorrow.

They Call Me Stacy

AAAAA!!!! Such a good song! I love "That's Not My Name" by The Ting Tings. The Ting Tings are so freaking amazing!



Dizzee Rascal did this awesome cover of it. I think he's a British rapper. It's great. (Of course, he changes the girl names to guy names).

Travis + Britney = <3

As if I just put less than three for as heart. Ugh. I hate myself a bit more now.
Anyway. Britney Spears. "Hit Me Baby One More Time." I can't stand the song. But when Travis does it, well, it's much better. At certain points, you can hear, in the background, Live Lounge attendees laughing.



Don't worry, guys. I'm done all my Britney-related ones.

The Kooks are Back!

GAH! The Kooks are so awesome! I love their song "Naive"!!!



And Lily Allen's cover is so amazing! It is, as she puts it, jazzy!
