Unfortunately

I love Kristin Chenoweth SO MUCH! In YAGMCB, "Glee," "Pushing Daisies"... Anyway, that's not what's unfortunate. What's unfortunate is that I like Starbucks, 'cause it's expensive and everyone likes it and I don't want to get addicted. But I think I'll be fine; I mean, what better alternative than Tim Horton's (which, by the way, is less expensive and tastes better)? Anyway, "Taylor the Latte Boy" works at Starbucks. Apparently.

I Forget

GAH! I just heard "Sea Green, Sea Blue" by Jaymay a couple days ago, but I can't for the life of me remember where I heard it.

New Single

I'm revisiting new singles today. Well, a new single. Actually, I'm not completely sure how new it actually is; it was sometime in 2010, which means "Do Wah Doo" could be four months old by now! Anyway, it's Kate Nash's newest single.

A Story

Let me tell you a story. Once I used iTunes Genius to make a playlist using "Sunshine Superman". All the songs in 50-song playlist ranged from the '50s to the '80s. Except one. In with Donovan, The Clash, The Velvet Underground and so on, was a song by The New Pornographers. Crazy iTunes.

Donovan Weekend

Well, I had my last exam yesterday; I'm all done first year!
This weekend will be the Donovan Weekend. We're kicking it off with "Jabberwocky." It's his song-ized version of the awesome Lewis Carroll poem from the awesome story Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, which was wrongly recited by Johnny Depp in the nonetheless awesome film.

Lonely Hearts

When my sister told me that she had heard this Heart song and I should download it because it's really good, I was like, "Hey, it's Heart; it'll be good." Then I downloaded it and listened to it. And to be honest, I was a little disappointed. It wasn't as good as I expected. Months later, though, I realized it's really good. I like "Alone."

It's Today

Today is my Roman Civilization exam. Blerg.
I can't stand exams. Just like The Rescues "Can't Stand the Rain."
Now, I realize that was a bad... segue? Is that the right word? Anyway, but I'm really tired, and I should be asleep by now. So, good night, and enjoy the song. It's a good one.

Res

The Most Serene Republic. "Republic" comes from the Latin res (thing) and publica (public). Kind of a lazy word, if you think about it; it's "public thing." Anyway, the reason I'm telling you this is because my Roman Civ. exam is tomorrow. On April 21st. Mind blown! ('Cause, you know, the traditional founding date of Rome is April 21st... MIND BLOWN!)

Oh, the song is "Heavens to Purgatory." The music video is awesome!

Wasn't Sure

At first I wasn't sure how to pronounce Metronomy. The reason was because it's spelled kind of like matrimony. Then I realized that it's Metronomy, not Metromony (like matrimony). Their only song that I know is "Heartbreaker."

Sims

I've escaped!
Yes, Kayla, that's right. I escaped when your back was turned. Eat it!

Anyway, the reason I know "Ghosts" is because of "The Sims 3." Yeah. It's true. It's in the game. Otherwise, I never would have heard of Ladytron.

Pilot Speed used to be called Pilate. In my opinion, they were better before the name change. For example, "Into Your Hideout."

Tayia's Mom

Today is my friend Tayia's birthday. We've known each other for 15 years now! That's over three quarters of either of our lives! CRAZY!
Anyway, I once sang her "Stacy's Mom" but changed it to "Tayia's Mom." I did it to make her feel awkward, 'cause it's her mom, and her mom is awesome. She said she was going to tell her mom. I don't know if she ever did, but I told her she should.
I'm sure Fountains of Wayne wouldn't mind if they knew I was adapting their song to weird her out.

Original

It has to be the original version of "Just Can't Get Enough." Not that sucky cover by some chick in the Payless Shoes commercial. Ug.

Another Brand-New Single

The other day, when my alarm went off, I stayed in bed until the song that was playing was done, because it was really good. When it was done, I found out it was Hawksley Workman, but I missed the name of the song. Later, I found out it's called "We Dance to Yesterday."

The New One from the New Ones

Today's featured song is the new singles from The New Pornographers. It's called "Your Hands (Together)" and it's from their upcoming album, "Together."

But Not

It's like a love song, but not. Molly Lewis effectively sums up my feelings towards Wikipedia with her "Wikipedia Song."

Statue on the Shore

I first heard this song... September, maybe? I only just recently got it on my computer though, from something using something in the something. It's call "Waving at the Shore" and it's by some band called Throw Me the Statue.


If this song is any indication, they're a good band. (Not that I said "they're" and not "there" or "their," 'cause I'm not an idiot or in grade two. Come on, guys. I learned the difference between the three in grade three; you shouldn't be getting them wrong all the time in university. That's just sad.)

Unusual Context

But I shan't tell you why.
Anyway, the song is "Mad World" by Gary Jules. I think it was in... "Donnie Darko"? Yeah, it was. Which I thought was dumb, because it takes place in the '80s, and this song isn't that old. Oh well. The film was only okay anyway.

My Stories

I've got to keep it short, 'cause I have to get back to my stories. I.E. "30 Rock." So, "The General" by Dispatch. It's a really good song.

Scouring

Whilst scouring my iTunes for a new song to feature, I realized something: never have I ever featured a song by Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker. And, as I'm sure you've determined from the boldface, as a result, I decided to. 'Cause, I mean, it's USS, man!


Anyway, I decided to go with my favourite one: "Hollowpoint Sniper Hyperbole."

Remember when Blink 182 broke up, and Angels and Airwaves spawned from the ashes as a result? Well they're song "The Adventure" was really good. It still is, actually. I wish I could have an adventure... A real one, that is...

At Long Last

I've realized that, though I've featured Maroon 5 twice, both times were in Months: Live Lounge Covers, and Women's Songs. So, I've decided to, at long last, feature them outside of such a context.


I've chosen, as I often do, the first of their songs that I knew: "This Love."

Migoochi

I know of Kate Micucci because she played Gooch on "Scrubs." She was also in an episode of "How I Met your Mother," but I already knew of her musical career by the time I saw that.

Anyway, I recently discovered her song "Mr. Moon." It almost reminds me of something that will remain unnamed (for mystery's sake), but not quite.
