Different Spellings

Jesse Thomas spells her name the dude way. But she's not. She's female. But her name isn't Jessie. Remember that.
Her song is "You I Want." Kind of the opposite of some other songs I may have featured.

Dag, Yo!

I was going to call this post "Curiouser and Curiouser," except that apparently I've already called one that. I wonder how many posts I've given the same name...? Whatever. Anyway, Alice says that a lot in... Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I think. Maybe in Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, but I think it was the former. Anyway, in that one there's a rabbit. Just one, though. There seem to be numerous ones in the band White Rabbits. See? Plural. Anyway, I heard about them somewhere on TV or something. I like "Percussion Gun."

Work

I really want to say more than I'm going to. Truly, I do. But I'm working. I have to finish my 2000-word artefact analysis on the column base of Antoninus Pius.

So, "Cannibal Queen" by Miniature Tigers. Listen and find out for yourself.

Not Your Average Aquatic Mammals

They're not your average whales, swimming around in their pods. No, they're Freelance Whales. They be pretty good, you knows? Their song "Generator Second Floor" is my favourite. Of theirs, that is. However, I feel it necessary to, at the same time, feature their other song, "Generator First Floor."

Two

Until Allison Weiss, I didn't know anyone spelled that name with two L's. But that's not what's important.
What's important is her song "Try to Understand." I'm listening to it right now. Dancing back and forth a bit.

Great Idea

I just had a great idea for a Week. I'm looking forward to it.
Anyway, "The Watchmaker's Apprentice" is a song by The Clockwork Quartet. You may very easily be able to figure out, based on the song and band names, that the song's a bit... odd. But if you've seen/heard what else I've posted on here before, then you shouldn't be surprised.

But I Get Up Again?

No, different "I Get Down" song. By All Wrong and the Plans Change. I'd tell you more about it, but I forget how it goes, and I'm busy watching Angel so I can't listen to it to remind myself.

Tomorrow?

Well, not really. But it says I poster those last two posts today, but I actually posted them before midnight on Sunday. Blogspot's time is off, and I don't know how to change it. Maybe I'll figure it out one day...
Anyway, ever heard of These Kids Wear Crowns? I think I had, but I don't know where. Anyway, "Jumpstart" is the song of theirs that I'm featuring. It's a good 'un!

Today

Though I'm not with them, I love Telus. For their commercials, that is. They have good music! You know that one with the dolphin that's swimming through a bunch of equations or something? That song is called "Psychic City" and it's by some band called Y▲CHT. Or just YACHT.

Whichever.

Yesterday

I forgot to post yesterday, and I almost forgot today! Sheesh!
So, for yesterday's post, I finally figured out what that great song I kept hearing was: it's "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train.

I'm actually a bit surprised I haven't featured them yet.

M, not N

It's Ellem. Not Ellen; Ellem.
I know. I thought it was a typo first, too.
"Inside Still Beats" was in some commercial for... something. Following an evident trend, I forget what the commercial was for. Oh well.

Curiouser and Curiouser

What is a Two Door Cinema Club, anyway? Some sort of club centered around a cinema with only two doors? Curious.
Anyway, what's their song that I know? Just a minute; let me check.
Ah, yes! It's called "Something Good Can Work."

Recent

I recently started watching Dead Like Me, which is a really awesome show (although it aired almost ten years ago). They're 40-odd-minute episodes; hour-long with commercials. But the pilots crazy long. It's about an hour and 20 minutes!
Anyway, there's this song that gets played a lot in the pilot episode. It's "Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers. Curious band name, I know. Good song, though.

("Band name. Band name. Band name." "Um... I like music. And.... cloth." "Did that dude just tell you she likes cloth?" "'She Likes Cloth.' That's a good band name.")

Title

Text.

Kidding. I know, I'm hilarious. like both those times I made jokes about Cleon about a year apart, and they turned out to be the same joke.
Anyway, I'm going to say more in the text area than just "text," even if all I said in the title space was "title" (in case you didn't get that that was the joke I was making.
I heard this song on the preview for the film Morning Glory, and I was like, "Hey, good song."
And after much effort, I figured out it was called "Change of Seasons" by Sweet Thing. Then I went to download it, only to find out I had already done that (I don't know when), and it got lost in the fantastic organization (and that's not sarcasm) that is my iTunes and my Music folder.

("I'm sorry, are you being sarcastic? Canadians have a hard time recognizing it because we don't have a very big Jewish population." very sarcastically: "I'm not being sarcastic at all!" naïvely: "Great!")

One Day

One day, I heard this song by Matisyahu on the radio. It wasn't called "One Day." I was like, "Hey, good song." So I wrote it down on a post-it to remind me to download it in the future. Then, one day, probably a couple years later, as computers improved I was finally able to download it. And I did. And I listened to it. And I didn't much care for it.
Then, one day a few years later (this past summer) my sister played me a different song of his, and it was called "One Day." It was really good, so I downloaded it.

I just hope that I still like it in a couple years' time.

FCH

I don't usually like First Choice Haircutters commercials. As a general rule, they kind of annoy me. But the latest one has a really awesome song. I couldn't figure it out so, following my sister's example, I went to the website. And, sure enough, there was a link there telling that the song was by a singer called Kai, and it said, "Click here to download 'I Choose Me.'"

Score!

Unexpected

It's the Unexpected Weekend!!!! YAY!!!!! (Because I didn't expect to be doing a weekend.)
Anyway, when you hear a good song on a commercial and you can't seem to figure out who it is or what it's called, sometimes it helps to go to the company's website. Example: Joe Fresh has really good music in their commercials. But we couldn't figure out what this one song was. In an act of desperation, my sister went to the Joe Fresh website, which revealed that the song was called "Lightning Don't Strike Twice" by Emilie Mover, who I think is Canadian (I mean, look how she French-ly spells her name). w00t!
It even let her download the song free. d0uble-w00t!

Accident

I discovered Heypenny by accident. Honest, I did! But I'm glad I did. Well, glad I discovered them. I makes no difference to me whether it was by accident. They're very... erratic. And I love that in a band. It makes them fun, exciting, and unpredictable. Quirky, if you will. For example, their song "Oh No." Or their song "Cop Car."

Well would you look at that. Apparently I'm featuring two songs today. But I'm not putting it off a day to make it a weekend, because I have a weekend in line for tomorrow that I just (accidentally) prepared. A surprise weekend, if you will. And yes, I mean a surprise to me.

Creeping

So I was Facebook creeping one time. Well, a bunch of times. But this one specific time, Kayla (I think) posted this song called "The Garden" on... someone else's wall. I forget whose. Not mine. Anyway, it was a good song. By someone called Mirah.

Late

Shat! I'm late for class! Okay, fast! "It's Thunder and It's Lightning" We Were Promised Jetpacks

Pow!

Well, you know, just trying to think up more explode-y words. Bang! Pow! "Kaboom"!
That last one courtesy of Ursula 1000.

He-hey!

"Glad Girls" by Guided by Voices was in an episode of How I Met Your Mother. True story.

Feat.

My roommate is in FNM, which is a combination dance/fashion show. It's pretty cool and junk. Anyway, one of the songs that she was telling me about is to a song called "Set the Fire to the Third Bar." It's by Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright. I'd never actually heard of her before. But it's a pretty good song.

Bank?

I knew this song by one Kyle Andrews for a while, but I couldn't remember how I knew it. Then one day I was listening to "You Always Make Me Smile" and Alex was all, "Hey! That song's from a commercial!" I think he said it was an RBC commercial, or something.

Double

There's this song called "A Clear Day." It's by this guy named Naren Rauch.

But there's also this cover of it, by a dame named Frances Miller.

They're both pretty good.

It's My Birthday!

Today I am two decades old. I feel pretty old. It's a bit depressing. I'm a grown-up now, and I now have to be mature and responsible and junk.
Anyway, January 22nd was our closing night for COLLEGE: The Musical. It was a pretty fantastic show, despite half our cast (including our male lead) getting sick at the beginning of show week. There are so many songs from it that I want to feature. But I have to pick one. So I'm going to go with... "Click, Smash!"

It's a song about Smash Fest which is pretty much Super Smash Bros. minus copyright infringement. It's pretty awesome.

Robots?

Is the song "Satellite" about robots? Because it's a pretty great song. I guess we should ask Lelia Broussard. I mean, if anyone knows it'll be her, right?

Plus, the music video kicks ass!

I'm Back, Be-atches!

Man! I've been gone for too long! But I'm back now, and starting anew! Or... whatever.
So I'm (re-)starting with the song "Love Generation" by Bob Sinclar (and yes, I spelled the last name right). It's the song with the whistling from the... Lott649 commercials? I don't know. But it's a good song.
