I definitely thought I already featured a Beck song, but apparently I didn't. So, as a result, I am now. I chose one of his newer songs, "Timebomb."

You Can
Who doesn't know "Go Your Own Way"? I feel like everyone does. However, it was a while before I knew who it was. I was play "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess," and I decided to, while doing so, listen to the album "Rumors," which one of my parents (I think Dad) has on vinyl. Then this song came on, and my mom walked in the room, and I was all, "I didn't know this was Fleetwood Mac?" And Mom was all, "Yeah, you didn't know?"

The
Do you know how hard it is to find a picture of The The? That's why I just have this one:
Anyway, apparently their song "This is the Day" was in the film "Empire Records." I don't remember, but it's been a while since I saw it.

When I'm Rudely Awakened...
I remember when I first figured out the name of this Blur song. It was a long hot day which involved a lot of driving around fields in the truck and fixing a lot of machinery (namely the bailer). I live on a dairy farm, by the way. If you got confused.
Anyway, I managed to figure out that the song was called "Parklife."

Makes Tetris Better
If you've seen my most recent post in "Scoop Out My Brain," you'll know that I like to listen to music from "Pirates of the Caribbean" whilst playing Tetris, to make it more exciting. But what I didn't specify is that I listen to "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl / To the Pirates' Cave / Skull and Crossbones" by The City of Prague Philharmonic.
Yep. That's what it's called.

Erg
Sarah Slean's song "Lucky Me" is what got me through my one summer job a few years ago. Man alive! You know how they say everyone hates their first summer job? Well, they'd be saying much worse than that if they'd had my first summer job.

Mm, What'cha Say?
So, I feel like everyone already knows "Hide and Seek," what with it having been on "The O.C." and that lame annoying cover of it or song that samples it or whatever the what that sucky song is, but I like it, and I feel like not everyone everyone knows this Imogen Heap song. You know, I don't think the song has any instruments!

Already Happened
Yes, "Sundown" already happened. And I really need to get to bed, so I'll tell you that it's Gordon Lightfoot.
I'll also mention that "Follies," the musical that I was just in, closed today. I'm going to miss it a lot. However, I'm working on a list for a Month of Musicals, so be ready for that when it comes!

Take a Walk
I have little sleep and a long day ahead of me, including a musical I'm in and finding crackers without sesame in them. So, I'm keeping this short. After his time with The Velvet Underground, Lou Reed did his own thing. His only song from this that I know if "Walk on the Wild Side." but it's a good one to be the only one I know. You know, 'cause it's good.

Ain't it Good?
Remember this song? I remember "Alive." It's older, but I remember it. I know absolutely nothing else by Edwin, though.

Sometimebrief
I like reversing the names of songs. Like I just did. In case you're not sure, it's "Everlong" by The Foo Fighters. Yup. Awesome song. Probably my favourite of theirs. And I thinks it's on... Rock Band? 2?

So... Yesterday?
So, I don't think that makes sense. the song is "Tomorrow Starts Today." So, I guess that would be right now, when "right now" is in the wee hours of the morning. Anyway, it's maybe my favourite Mobile song, but I really can't say that for sure.

Another Realization
Again, I've realized that the only James Morrison thus far has been in the Month of Live Lounge Covers. So, today, the first of his songs I ever heard:
"Call the Police."

Newbie
So, I first heard of She & Him for the first time yesterday, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I first heard "Why Do You Let me Stay Here?" yesterday. And I'm so glad I did! Within the first 15 seconds, I was in love with the song!

Realizing
Realizing that the only Coldplay songs I've ever featured were covers from the Month of Live Lounge Covers, I decided to feature a pair of their songs as them. Or something.
It's two songs which, while watching "Night at the Museum 2," I remembered are really good. Also, I love Amy Adams. She's so awesome. Remember when she was the purse girl?
Anyway, the songs are the instrumental "Life in Technicolour" from their album "Viva la Vida or Death an all his Friends," and, from the following EP, "Prospekt's March," the version with lyrics, "Life in Technicolour II."

Different "Band of"
So, I thought I featured this Band of Skulls song a long time ago. But I realized, "I Know What I Am" came out in April or May, because I was still in grade twelve and discussing how good the song was with one of my teachers. This blog didn't start until July. Huh. Who knew? Well, besides, of course, me?

VSiVoSD
I'm not entirely sure what language "Vi Sitter i Ventrilo och Spelar Dota" is in (it's usually known just as "Dota"), but I would probably be able to find out if I looked into what nationality Basshunter is. But I'm too lazy.

Roman
So, a long time ago, just before Hot Hot Heat's released their second album, "Elevator," and I thought it had already been released, I really wanted to hear some new songs from it. So, I was at my neighbours' house and we went on Limewire, and it was something else that I found. It was really weird. But fortunately, in a good way. But only just. Anyway, just last night, in my Roman civ. lecture, I found out that the Circus Maximus is some Ancient Roman thing. The song, though, isn't called "Circus Maximus. It's actually "Minimalist Impressions of the Circus Maximus."

Just Realized
I just realized I haven't featured a Radiohead song yet. So, as I'm sure you can guess by the boldface, I am now. After much (or at least some) deliberation, I've decided to go with "Paranoid Android," the title of which is one of Radiohead's more obvious references to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (they make a lot).

Bon matin, lui qui mange le feu
That's French for "Good Morning Fire Eater." And no, that's not a mistake. In French, only the first word and proper nouns (if there are any) gets a capital letter. Anyway, this is a song by Copeland, a band a friend of mine told me about... it must be almost a year, now. Man, where does the time go?

A New One
So I just got Tegan and Sara's new album, "Sainthood," for Christmas. It's so good! So I decided to go with my favourite song from the album. I'm not going with the first single, though it is good. My favourite song from the album is in fact "Northshore."

Fighting Another Dragon at the Same Time, Making it Plural Dragons, Ergo...
"I Fight Dragons." But of course. It is, after all, the I Fight Dragons Weekend. Tonight's song is so awesomely amazing!!! It's called "I Fight Ganon." And if that made you think of The Legend of Zelda, you are far from in the wrong. I mean, what other Ganon is there?

Fighting a Dragon
So, I recently became acquainted with a band called I Fight Dragons. As a result, I'm introducing, one time only, an I Fight Dragons Weekend! This is our second-ever Weekend. Not our second weekend, of course, but our second Weekend. Anyway, the song today has a controversial title:
"No One Likes Superman Anymore."

I Know This One from One of David Suziki's PowerWise Commercials
If you like acoustic guitar songs (you know; like Kayla does), then you'll probably love this song! It's "Sunshine" by Matt Costa. I mean, most of my music isn't this kind of stuff, but I love it!

Theme
I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I really love the show "How I Met Your Mother."
Oh wait, I have. The other day. Anyway, I'm featuring a different song from it; the theme song. It's "Hey Beautiful" by The Solids.

Simply Horrified
So, once I heard my cousin singing "Woo Hoo" by The 5.6.7.8s. Now, that's not hard; the only lyrics are "woo" and "hoo." Oh, and a few "yeahs." And that in itself isn't particularly scary. But I was scared. Why? Glad you asked. You see, when this happened, my cousin was maybe... nine, or so? Now, the only place I had heard the song was in "Kill Bill Volume 1," right before the brutal bloody scene in which she slaughters The Crazy 88 then kills O'Ren Ishii. And I got really scared, because this kid was far too young to watch something like that. Timidly, and fearing what answer I might hear, I asked him where he heard the song. A wave of relief washed over me when he told me it was a Telus commercial, and I remembered that yes, this song had been on a Telus commercial.

If You're Bored, Then You're Boring
This song's kind of oldish. I think. Well, '90s, I mean. I was pretty young then. Actually, I think Harvey Danger got back together a few years ago, but it didn't last very long...
Oh well. They were good while they lasted. Or, at least their one song that I know, "Flagpole Sitta," is.

Grade 3
I specifically remember that I was in grade three when "She's So High" was released. I remember because I was old enough to know who Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, and Aphrodite were, but I was still young enough to be at Our Lady of Good Counsel, which went from Kindergarden to grade three. Oh, and it's by Tal Bachman.

Your Cynical Kids
Molly Lewis is awesome! She has this song called "MyHope" (yes, one word), which is about hoe she hopes that MySpace fades into obscurity, but then when everyone with lame MySpace accounts grows up and has kids, they find their parents' MySpace pages. She hopes they are cynical, and she hopes that the parents don't remember thair passwords so they can't take down their profiles.
I must say, never having had a MySpace account, I share the same hope as she.

It'll Be Just Him and Me... But Don't Forget the Robot
If you've never watched "How I Met Your Mother," you should. It's hilariously awesome.
One of the characters, Robin, is a Canadian news anchor working in New York. In season two, the episode "Slap Bet" revealed that she was, in her teens, a Canadian pop star who went by the name Robin Sparkles. She had one big hit: "Let's Go to the Mall."
So freaking hilarious! I almost died the first time I saw that episode! Oh, and you can find the full music video on YouTube.

The New Year
Happy New Year all! I'm really excited about 2010, even though nothing particularly monumental is going to happen for me. No Archaeological dig in Jordan this summer. I'm not graduating or finishing anything other than my first year of university...
Well, maybe I can relax this year.
Today's song is one by Stars, and I've been putting it off for months. I suppose I could feature "The Beginning After the End," which is the opening track of "In Our Bedroom After the War." In it you hear Torquil Campbell's mother speak (remember my first Stars post).
But that's not the song I've had is:
"Don't Be Afraid to Sing."
