So, my friend Caitlin lent me her Paramore CD about a year ago. When I took it, I was thinking, "Paramore... Where have I heard of them before?" But I just couldn't think of it. Then, as I listened to it, "Misery Business" started. And I was like "I know this song!"
Turns out I had heard it a long time before on the radio, when it was a new single, and then had simply forgotten about it.

Here's a Story With Few Details
Last night, someone else and I went to the house of some friends. There, we made something, an awesome dessert! Easy to make, too. We also made some stuff on a thing, and then we watched something. By the time we left, it was really late. Or, rather, early this morning. When we got back, I went straight to bed.
Anyway, in the past, I noticed that the other person who I went there with had an artist on his computer. I was like, "I love that guy!" 'cause he's a really good musician. And one of the girls who we visited last night was all, "I've never heard of him." So I played her one of his songs.
The artist was Matthew Good, and the song was "Alert Status Red."

You Took Me Southward on a Plane and Showed Me Spain or Somewhere
Spain or... somewhere. I enjoy that line. Oh, and it's southward because The Feeling are British. I'm making that distinction because I'm Canadian, so Spain or somewhere is East.
I had a really hard time which of their songs to feature, but I ultimately decided on "Fill My Little World."

Millions of Sunsets, but the One I'll Remember...
...Is the one where you told me you'd love me forever!
I've recently been listening to a lot of Islands. As a result, I've discovered that there's this one song of theirs that I've known for some time now -- it must be about a year by now -- that I actually really love. It's one of their first songs that I knew, but I've only just realized it's awesomeness. It's called "Jogging Gorgeous Summer."

Almost...
This song tells the story of an awkward conversation between a man and a woman who met once before run into each other. The conversation is long. Almost painfully long. Almost. Not quite. But almost.
It's "Jenny" by Flight of the Conchords.
Almost

I Know it's a Christmas Song...
...sort of. But it's good anyway.
Apparently "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl was in "P.S. I Love You"? Ugh, I hope I never have to see that. Ever. Ever ever ever. In my life. Ever.
Ever.

I Can't Believe I Haven't Featured This One Yet
I've had "Good Day" by Jukebox the Ghost on my computer for a while. Just recently, though, I was making an awesome CD for my friend Caitlin. I listened to this song, and I realized, "man! this song is good!" So now it's track 15 on "Birds," and it's the featured song for Saturday, November 21st. Huzzahs are in order!
HUZZAH!!!

It's Pronounced Ch, not Sh
I said it Sh like it was French, but my brother always got really annoyed when I said "The Ballad of Hugo Shavez" so now I say "The Ballad of Hugo Chavez" by Arkells. Mind you, sometimes I accidentally say "Battle" instead of "Ballad."

I Wish I Could Stand on Light
If you're familiar with "Futurama," you might know that Fry's loves the song "Walking on Sunshine." He sings it very often, especially in the season four episode "Jurassic Bark." And I understand why. The Bangles are awesome!

Can Rabbits Walk Backwards?
It took me a while to like "Backwards Walk." But when I finally did, I got a little upset that is did take me so long. But hey, I got it eventually. Plus, I love the band's name: Frightened Rabbit. For some reason, it reminds me of Lewis Carroll's famous White Rabbit.

This One Was in a Commercial for Canada Debt Management or Something
Yep. That's how I know it. I never would have heard of Michelle Harding otherwise. Also, "Two Scoops" makes reference to Monet, so you know it has to be at least okay.

Lots of Fairy Tale References
It's a really good song! It's called "Wicked World" and it's by Laura Jansen. I think, accompanying the vocals, all there is is piano and drums.

I Feel Like This Song Comes From Life Experience
I know I just featured her, but I don't think it was a song that was just her? Was it? Anyway, Regina Spektor is, by the way, equally as adorable as Kate Nash.
I love "Two Birds," from her new album, "Far."

Seventeen
"Jacqueline" was 17, according to Franz Ferdinand. The band; not the person.
I'll take their word for it.

I Don't Even Have an Opinion on that Tramp that You are Still Seeing
Teehee! It's funny, 'cause she says she doesn't, but you know she does. By "she" I mean, of course, Kate Nash. I realized she's been featured twice already, but both times it was Live Lounge covers, so I figured I'd feature her. So, I am. The song is called "We Get On."
Isn't she just so freaking adorable?

This Song Reminds me of Hitchhiker's Guide...
Yes, Death Cab for Cutie have a song that reminds me of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. You'd think it would be Radiohead, and yes, to a degree, they do. But this song...
In the fourth book, So Long... and Thanks for all the Fish, at one point a thunder storm on Earth that at first had caught a mysterious character moves off into the distance. It's still going, just off on the horizon, and the rolling thunder is compared to the grumbling of an old man saying, "And another thing..." long after he has already lost the argument. (Incidentally, it's that quote that is giving a name to the sixth book, being written by Eoin Colfer with the blessing of Douglas Adams' wife; I have mixed feelings about that, but that's another matter entirely.) The image I picture in my mind at this point in the narrative is nearly identical as to what I see when I hear these lines:
"'Cause that night, the sun in the trees
Made the skyline look
Like "Crooked Teeth"
In the mouth of a man
Who was devouring us both."

And They Love Each Other So...
I remember when I first heard The Crash Test Dummies. Actually, they were referenced on "How I Met Your Mother" once; Robin's old boyfriend (from Canada) said that his band was going to be big -- Crash Test Dummies big. I wonder how many Americans -- or even Canadians -- actually get that joke.
Anyway, "Androgynous" is about a couple who are both androgymous and actually look very similar, since Dick looks so much like a girl and Jane looks so much like a guy. But it's okay, because they're in love.
Ah, androgyny. What a beautiful sentiment.

One-Two-Three-Four-Fight!
I don't remember where or when I first heard "D.A.N.C.E." but I do remember that I loved it right away. Justice is so awesome! Oh, and they're French, so that's Justice, not Justice, as you English speakers might say.

What a Great Band!
I got a poster of The Velvet Underground at a poster sale, about a month ago. You know, the one with the banana, that good ol' crazy Andy Warhol did.
Anyway, "I'm Sticking With You."

Do You Remember When We Met?
At first, I wasn't a hugely huge fan of "Sea of Love." I mean, it's a slower, calm song, and Cat Power uses sparse instruments. But after a few listens, I realized just how good this song really is.

She's Got Everything to Gain 'Cause She's a Fat Girl With a Lisp
I think this week will be a Juno Week. As in, all songs from the soundtrack to the awesome film "Juno" (which I have yet to see in full).
Today: "Expectations" by Belle & Sebastian.
Don't be confused by the number of people; that's just the name of the band. There are no members named Belle or Sebastian.

"Come on Let's Get it Going" by Aaron and Andrew is a song I know from Thesixtyone. It's one of the occasional songs that you can download for free, It's quite good; otherwise I wouldn't have downloaded it.
