Okay, so I've never heard the name "Mariella" outside of this song, but it implies that it's a girl's name. A specific girl's name. Mariella's name. Anyway...
It's one of my favourite Kate Nash songs. I mean, with only one album, I'm not given much selsction, but from that album.... Yeah, definitely one of my favourites. I think my second-favourite, to be maybe specific.
And so concludes our second "Month of...", The Month of Ladies' Songs.

Victoria
Today's and tomorrow's were saved until the very end of The Month of Ladies' Songs, because the artists of the two were both featured in mid- to late November. Today: "Victoria" by Jukebox the Ghost.

Lola2
Ew, once on "Futurama," Zapp Brannigan did a disgusting repulsive Karaoke version of this song, except he sang "Leela" instead of "Lola." Poor The Kinks. Great show, though!

I find older Maroon 5 to be better than new Maroon 5. This song is from their first(?) album. It's called "She Will be Loved."

Girl3
Sometimes, I like to imagine what the world would be like if a certain event in history had gone differently. I think it's called "alternative history," but don't quote me on that. For example, what if Hitler had won the war?
Well, with his whole blonde-hair-blue-eyes thing, I don't think Van Morrison could ever have written "Brown-Eyed Girl." Which would have been a real shame.

Maria
Merry Christmas! I'm sure "Maria" would also wish you one, whilst walking on imported air. As, I suppose, might Debbie Harry and the rest of Blondie.

I've known this song for quite some time. It's a good'un. Sam Roberts is just pretty awesome in general.
The song is "Don't Walk Away Eileen."

Ruby
I think this Kaiser Chiefs song is on... Guitar Hero? I don't know. I have better means of learning new songs. I definitely knew "Ruby" long before it was on that game.

Lyla
"Lyla" came out when I was in grade eight. Don't ask me how I remember that; it's a bit of an embarrassing story.
It's Oasis, by the way.
The Foo Fighters do a good Live Lounge cover of it too.

and the cover by Sixpence None the Richer.

Sister
When I first hears "Little Sister" it became my new favourite song. I loved the cowbellness! And it took me so long to figure out which Queens of the Stoneage album it was from. It's not my favourite song anymore, but I still love it!

Amber
For the longest time, this was the only 311 song that I knew. For years. I have a friend named "Amber" though, so I sing it to her lots. Then I wrote the lyrics on her pants.

The Stills are a great Canadian band from Canada. I first heard of them a year ago, or less. At first, I found they were only alright. Now, I really like them. And it's convenient that "Lola Stars and Stripes" has a girl's name in it. (It's Lola.)

This girl is a bit older. Not that she old; it's just that The Cars are an older band. "My Best Friend's Girl" is really good song.

Julie
I'll bet if I said I'd feature a Fountains of Wayne song for this month it would be about Stacy, or maybe her mom. Well it's not. On the episode of "Scrubs" in which Dr. Kelso imposes a "No Airbanding" rule, I learned of an awesome other song by this band, called "Hey Julie." Incidentally, J.D.'s girlfriend at the time was a girl named Julie. As the song begins to play, he walks down the hall air-guitaring until he runs into Dr. Kelso, who points at the sign expressing his new rule.
(And I said "incidentally," not "coincidentally.")

Woman
I don't care if people think the banjo is a hick instrument. The Stampeders make it work awesomely in "Sweet City Woman."

Véronique
Yes, "Véronique" is a French song. But Canadian French, if that makes any difference. It's about, as I would imagine, the worst hangover ever. The fridge is on fire, the cat is cut in half...
Anyway, I don't know where this Veronica comes into it, but she does somewhere. I think. I don't know; they sing fast, and I can't understand French if it's really fast. Only if it's normal people speed.
Oh well. Do it yourself.
Oh, and that's 3 gars su'l sofa. That means "three guys on the couch."

Today has two songs. Well, two bands doing different versions of "Come on Eileen."
There's the original version by Dexy's Midnight Runners,
and there's the cover by Save Ferris.
They're both really good; I couldn't pick one.

Mrs.
This song is originally by Simon and Garfunkel, but I don't have that version. I don't know why. Anyway, I'm going with The Lemonheads' version. "Mrs. Robinson" was actually originally called "Mrs. Roosevelt," and was about Eleanor. Roosevelt. So maybe I should have called this post Eleanor... Oh well.

Henrietta
There are actually a few Fratellis songs I could have chosen, but I decided to go with "Henrietta." If you want to know what some of the other ones were, just check out "Costello Music." It's a good whole album.

Julia
Sorry to disappoint all you Beatles fans, but this isn't their "Julia." (Oh, and I don't mean to imply by that that I'm not a Beatles fan. If you inferred that, my apologies.)
No, this one belongs to Fefe Dobson.

Cowgirl
This was the first Matt Mays & El Torpedo song that I heard. It's really good. Not my favourite, but close. "Cocaine Cowgirl" is probably my second favourite of their songs.

Tiffany
I've really been meaning to watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's" sometime. I mean, the Deep Blue Something song is great, but that's not that film. And I love Audrey Hepburn. Hopefully I'll like it...

Delilah
I feel like most people already know this Plain White T's song. "Hey There Delilah" is really the one that made them significantly more famous than ever before. For example, it's because of this song that I heard of them.

Angelina
I feel like this might be the opening track on The Bravery's album "The Sun and the Moon." Maybe not, though...
Either way, though, it's the one in which they say the name of the album. The opening lines are:
Oh "Angelina,"
You are the Sun and the Moon.
Every song I ever sang, I stole it from you!

Bella
There are two parts to this Incubus song. There's "Earth to Bella (Part I)" and there's "Earth to Bella (Part II)."
They're both good, although I personally prefer Part I.
And if you made any association whatsoever to Twilight, I just lost so much respect for you.

Ellin
December of 2009 will be The Month of Women's Songs. In other words, all the songs will be at least indicative of a woman in the title.
To start us off is Gob with "Oh! Ellin."
